War Grave – John Hall
John was born in Shelley in 1900 into a farming family and enlisted at Halifax into the Prince of Wales Own (West Yorkshire Regiment) in 1918. With his battalion he went for training at Clipstone Army camp, which accommodated up to 30,000 people at any one time. It is known that there were many casualties during training and also an outbreak of influenza. John died in a military hospital in Sheffield.
