Rev Amanda goes to Kirkburton First School

Rev Amanda and the newly formed Collective Worship Group at Kirkburton First School, delivered their first collective worship assembly.

The theme covered:-

Lent being a journey, a journey to meet with God and that the Lenten journey begins on Ash Wednesday.

The group described Ash Wednesday and Lent through the symbolism of an
Easter Garden. They did this by explaining all the objects in the garden, for example the tomb. The river of peace, the three crosses, the white cloth within the tomb, the candle at the entrance of the tomb (symbolises the light and life of the risen Jesus).  The three women at the tomb.  The angel at the tomb, the palm leaves, the crown of thorns made of ivy. The sun, giving light and representing the Son of God. And much more…

After they finished describing the objects in the Easter Garden, the group used special words to narrate the Jesus’ death on the cross.

These words are:
Crucifixion
Resurrection
Cross
Crown
Sins
Forgiveness
Holy
Spirit
Then they asked the school to Fast and Feast this Lent on:

Fast on teasing…Feast on being kind to others…
Fast from greed…Feast on generosity
Fast from falling out…Feast on friendship
Fast from jealousy…Feast on kindness
Fast from selfishness…Feast on sharing
Fast from laziness…Feast on hard work.

Rev Amanda would like to challenge  our social media followers this lent to:

Fast on means…Feast kindness
Fast from greed…Feast on generosity
Fast from falling out…Feast on friendship
Fast from jealousy…Feast on letting go
Fast from selfishness…Feast on sharing
Fast from laziness…Feast on hard work
